The film's hero, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a former Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist to combat the Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the program of "Avatar", than on foot. Jake goes to Pandora, an abundance of moon covered with exotic jungle full of fantasy, some wonderful, many terrifying. Pandora is also home to Na'vi, a humanoid race sensitive, which are considered primitive, but are physically more capable than people human. Standing nine feet tall (almost 10 feet), with tail and bright blue skin, Na'vi live in harmony with their world preserved. As humans invade deeper worm forest in search of precious minerals, the free Na'vi warrior's ability to defend its existence threatened.

Avatar was originally scheduled for release May 22, 2009 during the filming, but the film has been pushed back to December 18, 2009. This was done to allow more time for post-production, and also to give more time to visit the theaters around the world to develop 3D projectors. 1.85:1 aspect ratio of the film will be in 3D, but a Cinemascope (2.35:1) format will be extracted for the 2D projections. Avatar also released in IMAX picture 3D.The first half of the film was released August 14, 2009, and the Empire Magazine published exclusive photos of the film editing October.
